Course

The TUM21 is an achievable, point-to-point 21km trail run that has all the fun of the other distances with less of the run! This is a great option for first-time trail runners and families.

Your day will start next to the beautiful shores of Lake Tikitapu (Blue Lake). You’ll run or walk your way around the 5.5km Blue Lake track and then continue back towards Rotorua.

The highlights include the atmosphere and views at the Lake Tikitapu Reserve startline, the towering redwoods, steam alongside the trail at Sulphur Point and finishing at the Village Green in downtown Rotorua.

The course is a combination of trails and forestry roads with native New Zealand bush, conifer forest, parkland and thermal landscapes.

A drop bag service is available which allows you to have your own personal items (nutrition, change of socks, warm clothing etc) transported back to the finish line from the start line, or you may also choose to have a separate drop bag at the finish line for when you finish.

At Athlete Check-in you will be supplied drop bag labels. Attach the corresponding bag label to your bag/s (see table above for locations where drop bags are available) and drop your finish line bag at the designated area at Athlete Check-in before 8pm on Friday. Your start line drop bag is dropped on race day at the start line info tent.

Please note:

  • Drop bags must not contain any glass
  • All liquids must be in secure containers
  • Bags must be a soft, reasonable size. Please don’t pack the kitchen sink!

You will receive one ‘Authority to Collect’ card at Athlete Check-in. This entitles your support crew to collect your drop bag/s from the finish line on your behalf. No one other than you (with your race bib as identification) or supporters with an ‘Authority to Collect’ card will be able to collect drop bag/s.
