Mandatory gear requirements confirmed

9 February 2021

The 2021 Tarawera Ultramarathon mandatory gear requirement for athletes in each race is listed below.

Please remember that these are the MINIMUM gear requirements you must carry. If you would normally take something extra on a run of this duration, you should still take it.

Every runner should plan to carry drink and food between aid stations to suit the conditions. Remember you need to carry your own cup.

All mandatory gear listed below that must be carried at ALL OR ANY time on course must be inspected before athletes (and pacers for the 100 Miler) can pick up their race bib. This can either be done pre-event at an Official Gear Check Store (any Macpac store in New Zealand) or at Athlete Check-in.

The event reserves the right to change these Mandatory Gear requirements before Friday 8:00am. The current weather system around the upper North Island is variable and we are keeping a close eye on the forecast. Additional gear from the mandatory gear list could be required if this forecast changes.
